Daniel Rockmore, associate professor of mathematics and computer science at Dartmouth College, will give a talk titled The FFT - An Algorithm the Whole Family Can Use.

Lori Pollock will give a talk titled Applying Natural Language Processing Analysis of Programs to Aid in Software Maintenance and Evolution.

Ani Hsieh will give a talk titled Are We There Yet? The development of robotic swarms for real world applications.

Toniann Pitassi, a Professor in the Computer Science Department at the University of Toronto will give a talk titled Proof complexity and inapproximability results for NP-complete problems.

Dr. Lee Spector, a Professor of Computer Science in the School of Cognitive Science at Hampshire College will give a talk titled Strange Bits: Quantum Computing and the Search for New Quantum Algorithms.

The cs97-Senior Conference class will be presenting their final projects.

The CS department will present a lunch-time discussion about graduate school in CS -- what it is like, getting in -- this Monday, October 30th, at 12:30. Pizza and soda will be available at 12:15. All CS students are welcome. Even if you don't think you are going to graduate school, it might be interesting. It should be especially valuable for Juniors and Seniors considering the possibility of graduate school. Faculty will make short presentations and then we will open the floor for questions and discussion.

The Sigma Xi Poster Session will be this Thursday from 6-8pm and this Friday from 1-3pm in the Science Center Commons. All Swarthmore students that did research this past summer will present their work. Fruit and cookies will be served.
