Abstract

Bell's law of computer classes state that roughly every decade a new, lower priced computer class forms based on a new programming platform, network, and interface resulting in new usage and the establishment of a new industry. I will talk about the exciting emerging domain of deeply networked systems, fueled by low cost and low power computation and sensing. I will explore two frameworks, a decentralized framework for writing energy aware applications that optimize their energy usage across the entire network, and a centralized framework for writing spatially aware application for sensing and actuating in the environment.
