CS91.3 Lab 11: What is RNN

Due Tuesday, April 12th, by midnight (23:59, EST)

Goals

The goals for this lab assignment are:

  • Understand RNN

  • Practice with RNN code examples

  • Get familiar with RNN datasets

  • Ask RNN related questions

  • (Back to Course Index Page)

1. Write your understanding about RNN (Two Hours)

  • Prepare to answer the question in class, 'What are your understandings of RNN?'

  • Use the related videos to facilitate your learning in a flipped classroom way,

  • Answer 'What are your understandings of RNN?' with figures, tables, and pseudo-code",

  • Write your answer to an 'RNN.PDF' file, one to two pages.

  • Ask RNN related questions and write them down in the RNN.PDF file.

2. Review Pytorch Examples (One Hour)

Please review the tutorial below:

  • Pytorch Tutorial

    1. Find the best match for your research, deep learning options such as CNN or RNN.

    2. Apply it to your submission in Lab twelve, the next lab.

3. Submit your HCII Abstract (One Hour)

  • Update the 800 words abstract due 04/28 based on the HCII requirements.

  • Submit the 800 words abstract in the Double-Blind Way,

    1. In the PDF of the Abstract, double-check the word count and references.

    2. The Code folder, including the ReadMe.txt files.

    3. Make sure you hide the author’s information.

4. Working on your research (Three Hours)

  • Continue work on your final project, the ten-paper paper, and prepare to submit it in lab 12, the next lab.

  • Write your progress and questions to a 'Lab_11_publication.PDF' file, one to two pages.

5. Submission Guide

  • Each team only submits one file, lab_11_lastname1_lastname2.zip, including

    1. Lab_11_RNN_lastname1_lastname2.PDF as mentioned in the section one above.

    2. Lab_11_publication.PDF, as mentioned in the section four above.

    3. As mentioned in the section three above, Based on your submission ID in the midterm folder, for example, Lab_11_HCII_1st.zip.

  • Email 'xqu1@swarthmore.edu' your Lab 11 files as lab_11_lastname1_lastname2.zip.

  • The team members from the same team may get the same score.

6. Notes

  • Each team only needs to submit one ZIP file with both names on it. The file size should be less than 10 M.

  • Email 'xqu1@swarthmore.edu' your lab 11 files as lab_11_lastname1_lastname2.zip.

  • The team members from the same team may get the same score.

  • Lab assignments will typically be released on Wednesday and will be due by midnight on the following Tuesday.

  • This lab was released on 04/06 and will be due by midnight on 04/12.
