If you encounter a message warning you about your quota, do not panic, it is easy to fix. You quota is how much disk usage your account is allowed to have. Type quota
on the command line to see your current disk quota and usage.
If you have received a warning, you should run the dsu
command. This will list the largest files and directories in your account. Check and see if some of these can be cleaned up (e.g., if you have a large Trash folder, try to empty the trash).
If you need temporary storage space, use the /scratch
and /local
directories.
If you have cleaned up as much as you can, and still need space, email local-staff@cs.swarthmore.edu
, and your quota can be increased.
