To change your password on the command line, open a terminal and run the passwd
command:
passwd
Note: when you type your current and new passwords, there are no stars or asterisks shown in the terminal (but it is working). The whole process should look something like this:
$ passwd
Enter login(LDAP) password:
New CompSci password:
Retype new CompSci password:
LDAP password information changed for csmajor1
passwd: password updated successfully
$
If you’ve forgotten your password, go to our self-service password site: https://password.cs.swarthmore.edu (Hit the “Click to Request Reset” button, then enter your username and hit “Request Password Reset”)
Please Note: your CS password is different from your ITS/Swarthmore password.
