Dartmouth College is offering two Computer Science research internships looking at the security and privacy of smart devices (although you don't have to have directly-related experience to get the position). The positions are part of a national program <https://theleadershipalliance.org/summer-research-early-identification-program> aimed at folks interested in pursuing a PhD down the road, with a goal of increasing the diversity of scientists with advanced degrees. Note that the program also includes opportunities in other disciplines and at other institutions. You can read about the Computer Science positions here <https://splice-project.org/jobs/summer-research-positions/>. I know several of the faculty members leading the project and would recommend them as good mentors. I don't know much about the program beyond what's listed on the website, but if you have questions I'd be happy to put you in touch with the folks working on it!
