---------- Forwarded message --------- From: Dan Gibson <segfault at google.com> Date: Fri, Oct 16, 2020 at 7:13 PM Subject: Google SysInfra is Hiring To: <meeden at cs.swarthmore.edu> Cc: <eisenbud at google.com> Dear Lisa, We are reaching out to faculty colleagues to recruit highly capable full-time hires and interns to help us design and develop Google's next generation of systems. Please feel free to forward to interested parties. Thank you in advance for your thoughtful recommendations, and especially for encouraging students from diverse backgrounds to consider a career or internship at Google The Systems Infrastructure (SysInfra) team at Google is responsible for the design and development of much of Google's data centers, distributed computing platform, systems, networks, hardware, and Cloud services. We are located in Sunnyvale (CA), New York City, Madison (WI), Kirkland (WA), Seattle (WA), Boulder (CO), Warsaw, Poland, and Taipei, Taiwan. Our products are some of the largest-scale and most innovative distributed systems in the world, and we also maintain deep connections to the academic research community. >> Full-time Hires We are always looking for new team members. We seek talented hardware and software engineers with a BS, MS or PhD degree in Computer Science, especially those who build novel systems. Knowledge of computer architecture, operating systems, networks, and distributed systems techniques is a plus, but not a requirement, since we expect our team members to pick up new expertise as necessary. If one of your students does apply, please give us a heads up so that we can track the application. >> Interns Now is the time to apply for internships for Summer, 2021. Our intern program affords students opportunities to immerse themselves in world-class engineering problems, and to collaborate and learn from top industry talent. At the same time, the program fuels our long-term recruitment efforts, infuses fresh ideas into our projects, helps us build and maintain external contacts, and exposes students to state-of-the-art problems in systems, hardware, and networking. To apply, students submit applications via Google’s official processes, with links furnished below. We strongly encourage students to apply ASAP, as later applications tend to have a lower success rate. Our internship programs are tailored to a variety of student experiences and interests. Google’s STEP program targets undergraduate students in their 1st/2nd years; our Software Engineering Internship postings target BS, MS, and PhD students, and the Research Intern position emphasizes R&D over software engineering and coding. Students are encouraged to apply to both software engineering and research positions if interested. Lastly, as the industry continues to work through the challenges of the ongoing global pandemic, we advise applicants--throughout the computing field--to discuss the possibility of fully- or partially-remote work with recruiting staff, as every situation is unique and policies vary by position, company, country, etc. Regards, Dan Gibson, David Culler, Amin Vahdat >> Links Software Engineering Intern, Bacheors, Summer 2021 (Deadline December 4, 2020) https://careers.google.com/jobs/results/93981708417671878/ Software Engineering Intern, Masters, Summer 2021 (Deadline December 4, 2019) https://careers.google.com/jobs/results/121066339121930950/ Software Engineering Intern, PhD, Summer 2021 (Deadline February 26, 2021, but we strongly recommend applying by early December 2020) https://careers.google.com/jobs/results/136906590826439366/ STEP Intern, First-Year Student, Summer 2021 (Deadline October 28, 2020) https://careers.google.com/jobs/results/134007951758107334/ STEP Intern, Second-Year Student, Summer 2021 (Deadline October 28, 2020) https://careers.google.com/jobs/results/93605726980580038/ Hardware Engineering Intern, Summer 2021 (Deadline October 30, 2020) https://careers.google.com/jobs/results/131691183047877318/ Research Intern, Summer 2020 (We recommend applying by early December 2020) https://careers.google.com/jobs/results/119940413445284550/ IMPORTANT: After applying for an internship, please also fill out the Google form below so we can make note of students specifically interested in SysInfra.
