Hope to see you there! Brendan ___________________________________________________ Hi Swarthmore students, *Registration for The Google Games New York* <http://goo.gl/c1rwIe> on Saturday, April 11 is officially open! As we mentioned in our "Save the Date" last week, The Google Games are a chance to compete against students from Princeton, Yale, Columbia, and Penn for victory in challenges that test your brains and creativity to the max. Teams of five will go head to head in rigorous events: trivia, building challenge, puzzles, word association, and coding competitions. Find four friends (having CS backgrounds is strongly recommended), pick a team name and *register * <http://goo.gl/c1rwIe>*here* <http://goo.gl/c1rwIe>. Punny space-themed team names are encouraged, of course. (If you "saved the date" last week, great! We have you individually pre-registered, now all you'll need to do is formally register a team.) Can't find a team? Sign up as an individual and we will do our best to put you on a team with others. In addition to the thrill of victory and the agony of defeat, Google will also be supplying free refreshments to all participants and stellar prizes to our top competitors. Plus, Google will reimburse travel costs for participating students, so think of this as a chance to come up and explore the Big Apple too. Bring it on! The Google Games New York - Date: Saturday, 4/11/2015 - Time: 10:00am to approximately 4:00pm - Location: *Google NYC* <https://www.google.com/maps/place/111+Eighth+Avenue,+111+8th+Ave,+New+York,+NY+10011/@40.741355,-74.003203,17z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m2!3m1!1s0x89c259bf183d4f91:0xd868e10c0dd658bd> -- 111 8th Avenue, New York, NY 10011 Don’t space out! Remember to register <http://goo.gl/c1rwIe> by Wednesday, April 1. FAQ Q. Can we have fewer than five members on our team? A. We strongly recommend having the maximum number of members – any fewer than that and you'll lose your competitive edge. Q. Do you have to be a current student to participate? A. Yep, you must be currently enrolled at Swarthmore. Q. Can we replace a member before the start of the event? A. Sure. Just let us know via googlegames at google.com. Be sure to include the full name and email of the new team member as well as the full name of who is being replaced, your school and team name. Q. Should our team wear costumes? A. Yes! Show your team's spirit however you choose: costumes, uniforms, team dance, team flag or poster, cheer, fight song, etc. A prize will be awarded to the team with the most spirit, and something of value will be taken from the team with the least spirit. (just kidding on that last point.) (or are we?) (yes, we are, but come dressed up!) Q. Will transportation be provided? A. We will provide travel reimbursement for students attending schools more than 10 miles outside New York City. More details on that will be provided to the confirmed attending students. Q. Will food be provided? A. We will be providing lunch, snacks and drinks. If you have any dietary restrictions, please note this in the form and we will be sure to accommodate you. Q. When will our team receive a confirmation about the Games? A. After the registration deadline, we will reach out to teams with more details. Note: *not all registered teams will be selected due to space limitations.* Q. Do I need to bring my own laptop? A. Although it’s not mandatory, it will give your team a competitive advantage to have all members work from their own laptop in the challenges. If you don’t have your own, see if you can borrow one from a friend.
