Programmer/Data Manager for a Research-based Anti-bullying Intervention Program in New Jersey Middle Schools

We are looking for a programmer and data manager to work on an innovative
anti-bullying intervention research project based in the psychology department
at Princeton University. The intervention project is designed to test research
insights on peer influence and social networks, and will be conducted in New
Jersey middle schools. The position involves working on a creative and
high-energy research team led by Professor Betsy Levy Paluck and postdoctoral
associate Hana Shepherd.

Specific Responsibilities:
Write code to parse and aggregate text from webpages 
Manage and organize several large data sets, including complete social network data for about 70 schools (approximately 40,000 students)
Work closely with researchers to write code to clean, process, and analyze data
Write small programs for student use online (Javascript)

Qualifications and Skills:
Bachelors degree 
Excellent programming skills (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP or equivalent)
Experience with website design and/or management
Excellent attention to detail, record-keeping, and organization
Desire to work on a team and good communication skills
Familiarity with dataset management preferred, primarily in Excel, but familiarity with CSVs and databases will be helpful
Familiarity with social science research and social network analysis preferred
Familiarity with Stata or R preferred
Experience with Photoshop preferred
Creativity / innovation with social media and graphic design desirable

The position will run from August 2012 through July 2013. Compensation is
standard for university researcher assistants. Benefits are included.
