Role Description:

A System Administrator at Cartera is a SAGE level II or III sysadmin,
working to support a large, complex, high-availability site consisting
of hundreds of machines, multiple operating systems and dozens of
services.  Day-to-day duties will cover all aspects of web, database,
and application server life-cycles; from installing new hardware,
software and operating systems, support of existing servers and
platforms, effecting bug and security patching, performance monitoring
and tuning, break/fix troubleshooting, to retirement or upgrade of older
hardware and platforms.  Frequent interaction with end users is the
norm, as is participation in long-term projects with vendors and other
internal groups.  Minimum Requirements: 3+ year of production-level Unix
System Administration experience Experience with scripting and debugging
in languages such as sh, bash, perl, php, ruby Must be available to work
the occasional weekend and handle 24/7 pager-based oncall duties one
week out of  three.

Preferred Qualifications:

Additional relevant training courses (from colleges, universities,
conferences or corporate) are a plus Familiarity with a flavor of Linux
(RedHat preferred) and Windows Comfort with SQL in some sort of
relational database (Oracle, MySQL preferred) A firm grasp of basic
networking concepts including routing, subnets and firewalls Working
knowledge of storage architectures and technologies (DAS, NAS, Fiber
Channel, volume management) Understanding of basic backup system
concepts Experience with apache, postfix/sendmail, DNS, NFS, puppet,
monitoring tools, and ticket tracking systems Must have the ability to
learn, grasp and retain a variety of procedures and information and be
able to effectively apply this knowledge on a daily basis.  Must be
focused, energetic and reliable and have unimpeachable integrity.  Have
strong problem solving, analytical and comprehensive skills.  Have
ability to work in a team environment and effectively work with diverse
groups.  Communicate effectively in both written and oral form.
