Dear Colleagues,

I am writing to seek your help in passing on the following information
about potential fellowship opportunities to students who may be
interested in pursuing a graduate or doctoral degree in computer
science.

For the past three years, the Department of Computer Science at Florida
State University has been a recipient of the Graduate Assistance in
Areas of National Need (GAANN) grant, sponsored by the Department of
Education. Our department anticipates obtaining another GAANN grant this
fall. The GAANN fellowship provides up to a $30,000 per year stipend for
three years with two additional years of teaching assistantship support.
The goal is to encourage US-citizen and permanent-resident Ph.D.
students to pursue successful teaching and research careers in computer
science.

The Federal Cyber Service: Scholarship for Service (SFS) program seeks
to increase the number of students entering the fields of Information
Assurance and Computer Security. The SFS scholarship covers up to two
years of tuition, books, room and board, as well as up to $12,000 per
academic year in stipend. It also provides a paid internship in the
summer between academic years.

More information about the program and the application process is
located at http://www.cs.fsu.edu/prospective/grad. Our department
provides travel funds for qualified applicants who are interested in
visiting our campus as well as meeting our faculty members and students.
Interested students can also contact our graduate coordinator, Matt
Claypool at claypool@cs.fsu.edu, or our department chair, Dr. David
Whalley, at whalley@cs.fsu.edu.

Please post the attached flyers so your graduating seniors can view
them. Your help in passing along this information is greatly
appreciated.

Sincerely,

David Whalley
