Who:
Johns Hopkins University Center for Talented Youth
We are seeking enthusiastic math and computer science instructors and
teaching assistants to instruct in our summer programs for gifted
elementary, middle, and high school students. CTY offers intense,
3-week academic programs for highly talented students from across the
country and around the world.

Where:
Residential site locations around the country: California, Hawaii,
Massachusetts, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, and
Rhode Island. Day site locations in the Baltimore-Washington and Los
Angeles areas.

When:
Session 1: June 21-July 14
Session 2: July 14-August 4
Instructors and teaching assistants can work one or two sessions.

Why:
CTY staff work with exceptional students, make contacts and
friendships with dynamic colleagues, and gain valuable teaching

2007 Summer Math Institute at Cornell University

Are you considering graduate study in the mathematical sciences? The
2007 Summer Math +Institute at Cornell University provides an
opportunity to explore the world of +mathematics, and helps prepare
students for the rigors of graduate school. Participants +spend
approximately seven weeks at Cornell's scenic Ithaca, NY campus taking

Georgia Tech's Summer Undergraduate Research in Engineering (SURE)

students to science and engineering research, and as a direct
consequence, interest them in opportunities available through
graduate study. Key elements of the program include:

*Ten weeks of meaningful research in engineering (electrical,
aerospace, chemical, civil, computer, environmental, industrial,
mechanical, or materials), applied science (physics, chemistry,
biology, or mathematics), and electronics packaging - Pairing each
student with both a faculty advisor and a graduate student mentor
*A weekly seminar on emerging research in engineering/science fields
*A monthly stipend competitive with what the students might receive
from a summer internship in industry
*Lodging, meals and a travel allowance for participants
*Opportunities to visit local industrial research sites
*Oral and written research project summaries prepared by the student

Aquatic Chemical Ecology Program at Georgia Tech
Georgia Tech is pleased to announce our summer REU (Research
Experience for Undergraduates) sponsored by NSF (and co-funded by
DoD), broadly focused on Aquatic Chemical
Ecology

In ACE at GaTech, students will receive education and training from a
multidisciplinary team of scientists and engineers, including fluid
dynamists, ecologists, microbial ecologists, chemists, earth and atmospheric
scientists,  and sensory biologists. Students will work closely with one or
more faculty mentors to design, implement, and report on a 10 week
investigation of their own choosing. Areas of study include microbial
mediated material cycling, biogeochemical cycling, mechanisms of chemical
signaling among organisms, and the structure and impact of chemical signals
on ecological processes.  Students will also receive instructions in
essential tools of the trade (experimental design, oral and written
presentations etc.) for the practicing scientist or engineer. All
participants will receive room, board and a stipend.  ACE at GaTech
will be an educationally rich program in a relaxed social setting
that will encourage independent discovery and personal growth, and

would be perfect for students who are hoping to learn more about
careers in science in general, and integrative research in
particular. All students get the opportunity to present their work
before a large audience at GA Tech, and about half of our students
subsequently present their work at national or international
meetings.  This program is appropriate for biologists, but also
students with backgrounds in engineering or chemistry.


Chemistry Summer Programs at Georgia Tech
Chemistry and Biochemistry undergraduate majors are invited to apply
for a ten-week (May 21- July 27, 2007) research program sponsored by
the National Science Foundation (NSF-REU) and Siemens Corporation
(Siemen's Scholars Program). Program participants will receive a
stipend of $4000, a travel allowance, and housing. Each research
student carries out a research project under the direction of a
faculty member in School of Chemistry and Biochemistry at Georgia
Tech. Projects are available in analytical, biological, inorganic,
organic, physical, and polymer chemistry. Contributions by
undergraduate participants often result in publication of papers in
the peer-reviewed literature with the student listed as an author.

Students interested in specializations within chemistry may apply to
the Chemistry Summer Theory
Program (theoretical/computational chemistry) or
MDITR REU Program
(organic photonic and electronic materials) at Georgia Tech.

SURF 2007 (Research Experience for Undergraduate) Programs in
Materials Science and Engineering at Georgia Tech
We are pleased to announce the SUMMER UNDERGRADUATE RESEARCH
FELLOWSHIP (SURF) and International Research Experience (IREP)
Programs at Georgia Institute of Technology, in Atlanta, Georgia,
from May 30 to July 25, 2007. SURF is sponsored by the National
Science Foundation under the Research Experiences for Undergraduates

 (REU) Program, and in part by the Georgia Institute of Technology.

SURF2007 is an 8-week research experience program open for
undergraduates in any science or engineering discipline at U.S.
Universities, for hands-on participation in materials research with
projects focusing on "Structure-Property Correlation across
Micro-to-Nano Length Scales." Students will work on a one-to-one
basis under the mentorship of faculty in various engineering
disciplines at the Georgia Tech. Each student will receive a $3,800
stipend and a $1,562 housing allowance for the eight-week term.

The deadline for submitting applications is March 5, 2007.
