This is not just for Penn undergrads - he is specifically inviting Swarthmore students to apply. Please share the URL with students in relevant classes. The program offers the kind of hands-on training that is typically available only to graduate students. I think it's a great opportunity for students who are interested in learning how computational and engineering approaches are applied to neuroscience. The program will run from June 18 - July 27. The application deadline is May 1. Students will learn how to record from invertebrate and vertebrate neural systems, and to develop computer simulations of the experimental preparations. There will be a 2-week intensive laboratory-based course, and then a month long research rotation. Housing is available, and students will get a stipend. The program is geared at both biology/psychology students who want to exposure to computational modeling, and to engineering/physics students seeking exposure to neuroscience. A description of the summer program is available at: www.neuroengineering.upenn.edu/finkel/ComputationalNeuroscienceSummerProgram2007.htm I would be delighted to talk and provide more details to any interested students. Students can send their applications to me directly, or I'd be happy to contact them personally.
