Subject: REU Program at the University of Houston

Hello,

The Department of Computer science at the University of Houston (UH) is
conducting a 10-week REU (Research Experience for Undergraduates)
program this summer, funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF).
The targeted topics are computational science and cybersecurity.

We would like your help in reaching promising junior, senior, and
sophomore students interested in these topics. The goal is for our
participants to get a clearer understanding of what research in computer
science means. Thus, while it is useful if applicants already know that
they want to attend graduate school after graduation, we are also
interested in students who are still undecided or unsure. In keeping
with NSF's stated objectives, we hope to attract underrepresented
minorities and female students; last year, we were quite successful in
attaining this goal.

Interested applicants are asked to visit our website
(http://www.cs.uh.edu/reu/) which contains more information as well as
the application forms. Please advise your students of this opportunity.

With our thanks,

Stephen Huang, Ioannis Kakadiaris, Ernst Leiss, Ioannis Pavlidis, and
Rakesh Verma

The REU Team at the Department of Computer Science at UH
