Professor Kelemen,

I spoke with Sean Finney '03 recently about a project I'm working on
and he mentioned that there's an email list for job listings for CS
majors. Can you forward the listing below to that list?

Thanks so much,
Eric Stephens '03

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
We're looking for a ruby on rails developer to work on a startup. We currently
have a functioning version 1. Please read on and if you're still
interested, get in touch. Thanks!

*Problem we plan to solve*
Every business needs to develop strong relationships with employees,
customers, and vendors. At a previous startup, I searched for a
product to help manage these relationships and was frustrated with the
available options. Desktop applications are expensive, make sharing
complex, and place the burden of backup on users, often resulting in
tears. Hosted solutions are generally too expensive, too complex, or
too cumbersome. We're developing a simple solution that immediately
helps people manage relationships.

*Mantras*
- Small businesses need the simplest tools necessary to effectively
manage relationships.
- Small businesses don't have time to evaluate many products or to
invest a lot of time in trying any specific product. It's critical to
create an experience that conveys the value of the product
immediately.
- Successfully managing relationships boils down to exceeding
expectations. We're constantly looking for ways to help our customers
exceed the expectations of their contacts.

*What we bring to the table*
During the day, we help Fortune 1000 companies improve the customer
experience of their websites. After watching hundreds of customers use
websites, we've developed a keen intuition for what works online. I
previously started a company and have experience with XHTML/CSS. My
cofounder has experience programming.

*Who we're looking for*
We're looking for a rails developer who can commit 6 - 12 hours a week
to our project. We expect to begin working together on a contract
basis and hope it grows into a profit share/partnership relationship.

We need someone who is passionate about the idea and vision. You
should only get in touch if you think it sounds like an interesting
product that you would use. We need someone who asks a lot of
questions and tries not to make any assumptions, is responsive, loves
working with rails, and feels at home with the framework.

*Next steps*
If you're interested and think you're the right person, please get in
touch. From there we'll learn a bit more about each other to see if
we're a good fit. We're happy to answer any questions.

Thanks!
