Thanks and regards, Jonathan Shakes '90 Director of Specialized Fulfillment Amazon.com Software Engineering Intern, Industrial Usability The specialized fulfillment team at Amazon.com is looking for a computer science major to work on software usability in an industrial context. During this assignment, you will collaborate with associates working in an Amazon fulfillment center (FC) who receive, store, sort, and pack physical products. You will also work closely with other software engineers. You will be based in Seattle but travel frequently to one or more FC's elsewhere in the US. You will be responsible first to understand how the FC associates do their work, then to rewrite the user interface and workflow of existing software tools to make the associates' jobs more efficient. We'll expect you to know the fundamentals of computer science and be able to write solid code in C/C++, Java, Perl, and/or SQL on a Linux platform. You should have a demonstrable interest in usability and/or industrial processes. Interested students should send a resume to jshakes@amazon.com. ----- End forwarded message ----- Charles F.
