AOL invites nominations from Swarthmore College faculty for its highly
competitive training and orientation program, Project Infusion. This fast-track
faculty- nomination program puts new graduates on the cutting edge of product
development with high responsibility and visibility. Because AOL is looking for
the best and the brightest, the positions are extremely well compensated.

AOL has filled all but three positions -two in its Mountain View, California
offices and one in it's Dulles, VA offices. We are soliciting last minute
nominations of 2005 graduates in computer science and/or math majors.. We would
appreciate any assistance in identifying good candidates for these positions.
For two positions, one in Mt. View, CA and one in Dulles, VA, we're looking
for a high powered computer scientist who is or can become expert in both
efficient DHTML programming and the high scalability infrastructure and technology.

For the third, we're hoping to identify someone with very strong math skills
and an exceptional aptitude for deriving patterns and trends from large
volumes of data.
Please submit nominations to AOLInfusion@aol.com ASAP. All nominees must be
available to begin full-time employment on August 1, 2005 and be US citizens
or Permanent Residents.

Here are fuller descriptions of the three positions:

In the Mt. View Offices:

I. Project Infusion Position: Data Mining

AOL???s ability to be a differentiated and effective player in the online
advertising space will depend on our ability to go way above and beyond common data
mining and statistical analysis methods.
The sheer volume of data AOL will see necessitates clever analysis and
summarization techniques. Even beyond that, our ability to derive trends and create
algorithms to maximize advertising revenue will require increasingly more and
more complex analysis techniques.
AOL will not become a leader in this space without access to extremely bright
mathematical minds.
Job Responsibilities:
Gain experience with the DMN project as we start collecting data in early
phases.
As more and more data comes in, and more user attributes are folded into ad
targeting decisions, the candidate will play a central role in recommending and
implementing data collection, analysis and reporting techniques.
Data pre-processing for analysis, including clean-up and filtering.
Analyzing and understanding large amounts of historical data.
Pattern identification and feature extraction.
Performing statistical analysis and model development.
Experimenting with different types of algorithms and modeling techniques.
Implementing analytical/statistical methodologies to evaluate program
performance.
Specific skills:
Exceptional aptitude for deriving patterns and trends from large volumes of
data.
Excellent ability to communicate complex concepts to a variety of audiences.
Proactive regarding getting involved in projects and discussions outside his
or her immediate assignment.
Exceptional grasp of technologies used in high scalability distributed
services.
Courses in statistics or mathematical science.
Knowledge of java programming language.
Ability to write efficient and well documented programs.
Ability to work with pre-defined programming standards including the
production of relevant programming documentation.
Strong communication and analytical skills

II. Project Infusion Position: Web Audience Growth

Job Responsibilities: Grow into an expert in the technologies needed to help
AOL fulfill the WAGS vision.

We are looking for a high power engineer who is or can become expert in both
efficient DHTML programming and the high scalability infrastructure and
technology AOL offers. We would expect this candidate to work on a project like
Enhanced Favorites, Web Suite, or any other web application that has very high
speed and scaling requirements.
?? Gain detailed hands on experience with Bucky systems, high traffic
database systems, and high performance feature rich DHTML applications.
It is likely the candidate would need to move through several different
projects in order to gain this experience.
Excellent communication skills with outgoing personality, falling naturally
into a project???s ???go to person??? role.
Proactive regarding getting involved in projects and discussions outside his
or her immediate assignment.
Exceptional grasp of technologies used in high scalability distributed
services.

In the Dulles, VA Offices:

III. Project Infusion Position: Instant Messaging

Looking for a dynamic Software Developer who will work with a variety of
groups, including UI, product management, and QA to define and deliver cutting
edge Instant Messaging functionality to AOL's industry leading Instant Messaging
Community. An ideal candidate will be able to contribute to the design, and
provide input at all stages of the development process. Must be able to
brainstorm, develop, and take ownership of creative solutions/implementations, and be
able to effectively communicate with a development and test group. Candidate
will be implementing software features on Windows 95/98/NT/2000/XP in a
dynamic team environment with performance, quality, and time-to-market as primary
implementation criteria. Candidate must be a self-starter, innovative,
articulate, and product-oriented. Technical, communication, and documentation skills
are essential as they relate to application software development.

Skills Required:
Fundamental computer coding in Java and C/C+
The ability to effectively communicate with cross-functional teams (i.e.
Design, Product/Project Management, and QA).
Competent with SQL and databases layouts
Competent with HTML and Javascript

Skills Desired:
?? Windows client software development using Microsoft Visual Studio
development environment, and Win32 API's
?? Creativity and innovation

Please feel free to forward this email to anyone to whom this may be of
interest.
Thank you!
