Hi Charles --

If you don't mind, please forward this email to the CS department's job
opportunities mailing list.

In the end of May I will be leaving my current job with
washingtonpost.com to return to school and I would love to bring a
Swattie in to fill my position. The official job description and
preferred method of application is via our website. The URL is:

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wl/jobs/JS_JobSearchDetail?value=15090826

They say they want 2 years of non-academic experience with object
oriented programming, but I definitely had less than that when they
hired me. The job is mostly Java and J2EE development with a smattering
of Perl and some C++ every once in a blue moon. There's also a fair
amount of working with non-technical colleagues to hash out the details
of exactly what new products will do and how they will work.

The company is a great place. It still maintains a bit of the heady
bubble-era ethos (monthly parties, ping-pong tables, etc.), but is
fully backed by the very deep pockets of Don Graham and The Washington
Post Company. Plus we turned an operating profit for the first time in
the fourth quarter of 2003! Salaries are good, schedules are flexible,
and the view from my window includes the Lincoln and Washington
memorials and the Capitol. There's also a subway station less than a
block from the offices.

I would encourage any graduating Swatties interested in this position to
shoot me an email at this address so that I can find out a little more
about them and put in a good word to my boss.
